How To Increase Your Home’s Value
Choose one theme, brushed nickel, antique bronze, or even brushed gold, but be consistent throughout your home. Make sure the hinges and doorknobs, including your exterior front door, kick plate, address, and garage door are consistent also.
UPDATE THE PAINT COLORS
Neutralize as much as possible. Consider popular paint colors that blend well with your flooring and furniture such as Revere Pewter, Agreeable Grey, Kilim Beige.
EXAMINE YOUR CEILING FIXTURES
Keep styles consistent throughout the home. Replace if needed as it does make a big difference in the total look of your home. No need to spend too much on them as the new owner may replace them to their own style.
UPDATE YOUR FLOORING
To make your home appear larger maintain one type of flooring. Carpet in bedroom is still popular, however hardwood would be my first choice. A great option is 6″ wide plank hardwood, or engineered hardwood. I also like the hand scraped engineered wood floor they are forgiving and great for pets.
This is one of the most important room in your home. The kitchen leaves a lasting impression. If need be replace the cabinets or give them a fresh paint, along with updated the knobs and pulls. Counter tops should be granite or quartz as this is buyers first choice. Select a pattern that is not too busy.
Best to start with the master bathroom, make sure your counter tops and sink are clean looking, if not replace with granite or quartz. Flooring also needs to appear clean and updated. If you are replacing shower door, replace it with a seamless frame. Replace mirrors if need be and rugs/towels.
Stainless steel is my first choice, stay with the same brand to keep consistency.
FRESHEN THE EXTERIOR
First impression is so important. Paint front door and shutters if needed to make your home pop. Make the landscaping stand out. Manicure your lawn and add bright flowers for color. Replace your door mat, it should not look tired and dirty.
If your systems is ten years and older, it may need replacing soon, consider buying a home warranty. This will give buyer’s peace of mind.
In my mind, fresh flowers in a home is a must. It adds color and fragrance.
